So you thought there was nothing left to look forward to for 2008, simply because GTA IV was released? So did I! Well, it seems Neversoft is never done with Guitar Hero, but this time around, your not playing just guitar. You get to play drums and vocals too. I know that this is exactly like RockBand, but actually its not. Let me give you the differences.
RELEASE DATE: October 27, 2008
First off, this game is going to be available for Wii, which wasnt in RockBand. Lots of little kiddies will be getting they're rock on. But something I noticed about the Wii version is rated E, whereas the rest are rated T. I am guessing that this means that the songs with questionable lyrics will be removed from this version of this game. Yep, that means Wii owners won't get the inevitable "cherry pie" or "talk dirty to me" type song that appears in each Guitar Hero release. But what is ROKK without a little sexual reference.
Another thing about this is that the lower gen consoles will still get the online mode that they wanted. That's right, PS2 and Wii owners will get to battle it out over the internet. Unfortunatly, the PS2 version will require you to go on your computer, register the code that was given in the box, and create a username and password. This fights piracy, and allows users to create a unique username. 2 birds, 1 stone.
The drums on this release have only 3 drum pads, but have 2 cymbals that are on top of the drums, and have a different shape. This adds more fun and realism to the game, and makes things much more fun.
All instruments are wireless, no choices. For PS2, you must buy a dongle that will hook into a USB port, and will allow all the instruments to connect to it. You must also use a controller to control the vocal options, as it would be impossible otherwise.
For the PS3, you are the only ones who will have no hassle playing the game. For Xbox 360 owners, you must download a 2 gig file from the first DVD, and then you will be able to play with the game disc effortlessly. For PS2/Wii owners, you must use 2 dual layer dvd's, and will have to switch between the 2 as you go through the sertlist. Most of the songs will be on disc 1, but as you lower through the last few songs on the setlist, you must witch to disc 2. There is also word that PS2/Wii owners will get a "content disc" about every 2 months that will add songs that you would otherwise have to download from xbox live or PSN.
